I JUST bought the Knitting for Olive heavy merino in the same color you have and had the same thoughts! I had heard soooo much good stuff about it , but I’m finding it pretty disappointing

Malabrigo has the softest mid range yarn I’ve tried. Even their non SW yarns can be worn next to skin

You might want to try alpaca or 50% or less wool with a bamboo/rayon or cotton blend. Use your wool for a cardigan instead of a sweater, then you won't care if you have to wear something underneath.

I just watched a video of someone recommending a folded collar with a softer yarn on the inside!

the woolfolk recommendation! i’ve made 2 sweaters & sophie scarves in får and it’s heavenly!! however, i find that isager mohair is probably the softest i’ve ever used, and i thought kfo was softest!!

Try washing it (as if you were blocking it). This will help soften it up.

Have you blocked the swatches? I find KFO merino gets softer aftee blocking. I have 3 tank tops made from it and they are super comfy and soft

Have you considered alpaca?

I have resigned myself to only using acrylic, in autistic and just can't tolerate itchiness at all.

west yorkshire spinners fleece BFL DK (i think there’s an aran weight too) is soooo soft not at all itchy, but has that kind of fuzzy halo mohair appearance when knit up

I have the same with kfo :( Isager soft silk mohair is the softest i have found and in combination with their alpaca it‘s not itchy at all

KFO mohair is itchy for me as well! I like the merino though 🤔 I usually use isager mohair because it is the softest I think 👌🏻

I haven't tried knitting for olive but I have had really good experience with filicolana yarn and I'm very sensitive to itchy yarn

Have you washed your swatch yet? I would try that before you call it off!

I’m currently working with Knit Picks swish and it’s super soft, also agree with the Malabrigio-super soft. Also heard to block your swatch, that’s supposed to make it softer too!

Girl, if you haven't yet, get tested for a wool allergy! You talk about wool itching so much and as someone that relates, I admire your perseverance, but don't do this to yourself 💖😭

ooo I used those exact colours and wool in reverse for the olive vest recently and found the swatch itchy too. But went ahead and find it actually ok once complete!

I’m using this same yarn combo and also find it a little itchy, it’s definitely the merino cause I’ve used cascade as a cheaper option and that was softer

I have very sensitive skin and adore knitting for olive yarn colors 🫠 mama didn’t raise no quitter. I simply have to wear a t shirt underneath 🤓

Malabrigo is the softest, but it's single ply, so it pills. if you knit 2 strands together, they should twist and not pill. expensive but amazing. look for the color Granada.
