As a loooong term insomniac (childhood trauma), it only works from time to time. Maladaptive daydreaming is the only way for me, and it's still not foolproof. It really is torment.

I do that. But I ‘ imanginary shop’ in a grocery store. First i find a thing with the letter A and put it in my cart, then a thing with the letter B and so on, i usually only get to letter J 😴😴😴😴

The best trick I’ve ever learned when I can’t sleep, pick a childhood home..your parents, grandparents,aunts,etc…and mentally walk through it trying to remember every little detail you can!
