@little.manny.terrace: Turns out, 'renovating on a budget' is just code for 'goodbye savings.' 🙃 #HomeRenovation #DIYStruggles #VictorianHouse #renovationproject #helpmeimpoor #RenovationRealiTEA
For my birthday present this year from my dad he hung a bathroom door for me. I’m going to ask for a bedroom door for Xmas.

Avoid B&Q for big purchases and materials. Toolstation is usually cheaper and weirdly enough Screwfix. If you have any merchants local even better they tend to be cheaper.

Hang in there! Oh and keep a spreadsheet to track your spend if you haven’t already, it highlights the black holes of where you need to save. Oh, and ALWAYS colour match your Farrow & Ball paint 🤍

One tip is ask ppl to give you money rather than presents (they'd have to go in storage anyway!). We also invited ppl round to DIY with us as otherwise we wouldn't see them. 😅

I picked at the plaster, house has no ceilings now, no internal walls no water or electric. Living at my parents with wife and 3 kids. Should be OK next year or year after. Ran out of money ages ago.

We just bought our first house under impression it will just need a lick of paint and garden sorting. How wrong. All window seals broken as well as hinges, sealant needed, damp proofing, new shower enclousure, the list never ends & credit card is up to max with no results visible 😳

Tis the special insanity of the UK housing market. I live in France (p/t) and they just don't put themselves through this 😅 cos the house €s ain't going up like ours. Tip: open a Selco trade account.

Yes it's a long game, and I think it only truly pays off in the end if you don't regret missing out on the times you could have gone skiing/played with your kids. (your time is irreplaceable)

We have given ourselves 5 years to sort it. We needed to secure and fix a lot of internal issues. Learning to save money as our roof isn’t good at all.

We’ve renovated and I can confirm there’s not enough money in the world to finish it… we’ve spent in the region of £80k. We still have the garage, garden and drive to do… oh and furniture 😅
