i cant understand why western people would move out after they reach 18yo, meanwhile in my country u would move out after u got married or work in another state.

My parents have 1 single rule. Go to school or get a job. We could all live at home rent free as long as we did at least one of those things. It’s nice to be supported and takes some stress away.

I want to charge my kids "rent" but I'd save that money and give it to them once their 18 for a car or for college but I also want them to choose if that's what they want too

My parents haven’t charged me or my sister rent. The only thing they have asked of us is for us to have a job (I just got one) and to be able to pay our phone bill. I’m taking a gap year for college

My kids are 36,32,30 and 26. They still get a chocolate bunny in Easter, I also included daughters in law and son in law, I stopped giving them big baskets 8 yrs ago when grand son was born 🥰

My cousins were not paying rent when they were at their home. ( in my culture we live with our parents till marriage) I don’t pay rent it is expected of parents to pay for collage and other expenses
