I can see there being a lot of grey area here where the ref judgment is needed. I know Olympic fencing has a right of way system, is there something similar in Hema?

Tournament idea: every fighter has a certain amount of lifes any hit subtracts a life. A fight ends when someone or both get hit. This way the incentive to not getting hit is much bigger then to hit.
