The US Army’s Special Forces Assessment and Selection aka SFAS, is the beginning of training to become a Green Beret. It is a grueling 24 day selection where the main focus is to physically beat down the students and try to make the mentally weak students quit by doing log pt, unknown distance ruck marches that are timed ranging between 5-15 miles everyday while carrying 60-100lbs of gear, land navigation during the night, all while only sleeping 1-2 hours a night. In some cases students are up for several days and only get 15 minute breaks to eat before continuing onto the evolution. Even if you managed to make it through SFAS, on average only 35% get selected to continue to the Special Forces Q-Course. Upon getting selected students will go to 1st Phase which is a 1 week orientation admin course then will start the 2nd Phase of MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) and SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) training which is 13 weeks long. Also while in the Q-Course, every morning has mandatory PT and hand to hand combatives training. 3rd Phase is 1 week Basic Airborne Refresher where you make 5 static line jumps. 4th Phase is Tactical Skills where students learn how to master infantry patrols & raids since Green Berets primary mission is to build a Army out of a indigenous forces from another country. They learn advanced combatives and marksmanship too and the physical standards during this phase are harder than SFAS (hint, every Phase the standards get harder). 5th Phase is Robin Sage Unconventional Warfare, 2 week mission where students jump into a real town with real civilians (they’re paid actors) and the students must combine everything they’ve learned to live off the land, not get captured by the local police department and build a local Army out of the local civilians. The physical standards are the highest in this phase because they’re carrying around 120lb rucks to conduct 2 weeks of war. 6th Phase is language school. 7th Phase is Advanced Training where some students will learn either Hostage Rescue, Freefall skydiving, Sniper School, or Combat Diver. Upon completing this you will be rewarded your Green Beret #CapCut #history #fyp #fypシ #f
