I’m Nick Hamman and here is the best chicken I’ve had in Gauteng so far starting with Hanifia Fried Chicken. This famous food chain of Pakistan has been around since 1954. Visiting the branch in Ormonde Gauteng, I opted for Arabic styled half chicken with rice and salad for R90 My next stop was Khana Khazana Tikka House on 25 commercial road Fordsburg. Attached to a canteen style eatery that serves traditional curries and other dishes, this spot sits on the road and lures patrons in through incredible smells which waft through the air. This one was R45   Third was Al Makka Tikka House, just around the corner, serving traditional chicken tikka, going for also just R45 for the quarter chicken together with naan. With all the makings of a great Tikka House, the classic chili and oil marinade was liberally applied, while the red-hot coals are fanned while you wait. It was in Melville that I found Al Falah on 8 Main Rd. The place serves a variety of dishes including chow mein, mango lassi, fried rice and butter chicken, but went to try the delicious quarter tandoori chicken tikka for R47 The first of two Al Hamra’s IU visited was great, with this t one being located at 80 Mint Road in Fordsburg, and I’ll certainly be back, but the Al Hamra goat has to be in Mayfair on the corner of 4th and the iconic church street where local legend Abdul Aziz can be seeing basting and braaing However, my number one spot remains Amaan, a Jordanian restaurant on 48 Central Rd, Fordsburg with flairs of middle eastern and Arabic influences in the food. I’d highly recommend all these spots, but if I’ve missed out on the best chicken in Gauteng, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next #bestchicken #chicken #chickentikka
