Tragic? Yes. But the ocean is where sharks live. Every time you enter the ocean, you are taking a minor risk, but a risk none the less. The risk increases when swimming at certain times and in particular locations. Unfortunate.

shark attacks are extremely rare, but they do happen. its very unlikely to happen to you, but the chances are never zero, so as an aussie i don't really swim at the beach 💀

I will never forget this day. He swam right over the drop off shelf. Literally the most Shark infested area. That shark was a massive Great White.

As an Aussie, I know not to swim where people are fishing.. Particularly in places like Byron where they fish for Abalone, don't swim where there are seal colonies. Those places will attract sharks.
