@packleaderdogs: We always want to make sure that our dogs have proper identification on them in the event that they get away.⁣ ⁣ Focusing on being a leader/parent-figure, teaching boundaries, and having a great recall should be done with all dogs, but still, proper identification is very important as anything can happen.⁣ ⁣ Metal dog tags are not ideal for 2 reasons:⁣ ⁣ 1) They make a clanging noise that can be irritating to the dog wearing them.⁣ ⁣ Try it by your ear and see how it sounds🤪⁣ ⁣ 2) It can be a trigger for reactive or aggressive dogs.⁣ ⁣ I've worked with many dogs who are triggered by the sound of metal dog tags, so using them can make your dog a target.⁣ ⁣ What are the alternatives?⁣ ⁣ As I said in the video, a custom name plate that can be secured to the collar or getting a collar with the dogs information are great options.⁣ ⁣ Another option is getting rubber covers for the metal tags to prevent the clanging.⁣ ⁣ Microchipping your dog is also something I would suggest as even with proper identification on a collar, if the collar was not put on or falls off, a microchip can provide identification when the dog is found.⁣ ⁣ Do you have any other alternatives to metal dog tags?⁣ ⁣ Have an amazing Sunday!
