You should note that the 323 clamp meter can only measure AC current via the clamp. It CANNOT measure DC current. In other words, it couldn't be used to measure the DC current in your 1st example.

Was it mandatory to unscrew the terminal couldnt you just put the test lead on the top of the wire ? Like in out on terminal?
