My Nan lived through the blitz with young children whilst my grandad was away fighting in France. Honestly her stories!!

I learnt this from watching Lucy Wolsley’s Blitz Spirit. I had no idea before seeing that, that it was all propaganda

I think of my Nan really she told me what it was like(as she was a teenager) she told me a lot about the 2 nd world war. My step grandfather was also in the war and told me things.

I've got a true blitz sprit or heroes the Fire brigade even tho it was bombs dropping and flames at as he'll they weren't scared they went out and did they jobs some died and maybe those RIP

My mother was very scathing about this. She said there was widespread looting and soldiers armed with Tommy guns had to guard food distribution centres from criminal gangs.

People also don’t realise how much crime went on at the time. Bombed houses were regularly looted by organised gangs. “Blitz spirit” is an invention by people who weren’t there.
