@shabanaafxal: Seman | Diram | Drum | Shoshop In Gilgit-Baltistan, this traditional dish has many names and variations. It’s called Seman in Wakhi, Diram in Brushaski, and Shoshop in Khowar. Each area has its own twist. 🫓 The Process: The journey begins by soaking wheat in a warm place for 7 to 10 days until it starts to sprout. Once the wheat has grown a little, it’s dried and ground into flour. This flour added water is cooked slowly for over 10 hours, creating a rich, earthy flavor. 💡 Local Touches • In Wakhi, the dish is known as Seman and is brownish keeping it’s natural color • In Brushaski, it’s called Diram Phitti. They make it into bread and then gently smash it. • In Khowar, it’s called Shoshop, and they add crushed walnut for a delicious, nutty flavor. Because of the walnut it turns into completely black.
