This is the hotel we stayed in. It’s called Holiday Inn Rome - Eur Parco Dei Medici it’s part of @IHG Hotels & Resorts It’s really beautiful, large, has a nice outdoor area with some children’s playground, bar is constantly busy and open with 24 hour food service, breakfast was good with many various options such as scrambled eggs, sausages, salumeria, cheese, yoghurt, cakes, croissants, fruit and cereals, etc... The main disadvantage is that it is around 30 minutes distant from the city and we didn’t understand the metro. The metro station was only a few minutes distant. However, one time we went at 9 a.m. and the train did not arrive until almost 11:30 a.m. Another time, we got it but then had to exit and take an underground from somewhere else, which we couldn’t find easy, so we gave up and ended up taking taxis. We usually rent a car, but the driving in Rome is a little terrifying, so we didn’t take the chance. Taxis ranged from 30 to 60 euros. It’s supposed to be €3 in the morning + 10 cents each 100 kilometres, and €5 + 10 c each 100 km after 10 p.m. till 6 a.m. But there was one time when we wanted to go to the stadium and it cost us €60, but when we returned it was only €30, so the taxi driver definitely took advantage of us. All of the drivers are Italian. Many of them are quite friendly and helpful. Few were odd or drove scary haha:) You can use Uber, ItTaxi, and other applications, but they all work on a kilometre basis. They can charge more if you phone from the hotel or if you have luggage 🧳 . In any case, I hope this knowledge was useful. For the next time, we were advised to rent in a more central location, which, while more expensive, would save us money on taxis:) #rome #italy #roma #malta #vacation
