My 2024 Kia sportage does NOT do this at all, the automatic braking is fantastic. It can definitely tell the difference between shadows and objects. Must be a faulty sensor/camera

My Honda civic 2020 had this issue. It would brake because of the shadows in front of it! Every time I had to turn it off every time I started the car. It was rough. Maybe they need to be recalibrated

Check the menu of the car. My Kia Sportage you can turn on and off all the assist features.
