From someone who’s been in the refinishing business for 15 years-I agree, times change and the market is shifting.I paint more tractors from the 60’s-80’s for collectors now than farmers

IMHO it's not the collectors driving the prices up, it's the cost of the new and newer equipment. I've heard "it's PreDef" as a selling point frequently.

As a Gen Xer. I have some tractors I’d really like to own someday. Some of them are the 2+2 series. Still have grandpas tractors I want to restore. They are wore out.

The obscure model collector market is still strong. There is a guy I know back home that collects and restores the 2 stroke diesel models.

disposable income in this economy is dwindling so everything is soft . boats,bikes,oldcar,old tractor etc..but overall will come back

I think it's changing with the age range of the collector's, like the 20 series is hot now and 56 and 66 series are hot now too.

i collect ones i use. as yard auger vac mower tractors. early 70s ih . in hindsight, should have bought something newer. but they are cheap plentiful.

My Dad got to see what happened in the 1990’s with the 2 cylinder market and 30 years later a lot of them tractors have lost their value and collectability over the last 3 decades

I asked my Dad if he would’ve ever thought the new tractors from the 70’s and 80’s were gonna be collector tractors and he said when he was a kid classic tractors were the Farmall H’s and 2 cylinders
