@thendnjedi: Lemme introduce the man that was the most influential on me, my great grandfather and his name was Bernard Newberry Webb born in North Caorlina in March of 1926 he answered his nation’s call and enlisted in the marines at the age of 15 in 1941 back then it was common for boys to lie about their age so they could join and my grandpa was one of many. He fought on Okinawa and iwo Jima and he was present on the mountain as they raised our flag. he didn’t talk much about his time during the war but he shared a few stories and one of them was pissing off his sergeant during standing at attention by making his fellow marines laugh that were next to him which resulted him getting bashed in the face from a butt of a rifle. after the war he became an MP and he guarded President Truman a few times then later on he transferred to the national guard and became a recruiter for them until he retired from the military. There is so much more i can share about him and who he was and how still to this day he makes me want to follow in his footsteps and put on a uniform and serve just to show him how much he meant to me.
