Common devise found under the hood in desert cities and towns, coming from AZ this is a very common pack rat deterrent and just yesterday at my shop we had one in a Subaru with chewed wires. They can chew through anything in that engine bay and cause thousands of dollars of damage. I’ve seen it happen and it’s one of our worst nightmares as mechanics.
