In NYS, right on red is illegal except where specifically indicated to be acceptable. I met my bf in NY and he moved back to my home state with me…he still gets freaked out turning right on red lol.

Not true. Lots of motorist going straight pull so far ahead that the motorist turning right would have to almost pull out into the crossroad to see anything.

You can’t see everything at a ton of intersections. Lots of huge trucks park on the corners ,big bushes etc.

Honestly, there are plenty of intersections where between trees and parked cars, you can’t see clearly to the left. If you feel that you have to just gamble, pull out and floor it, then you perhaps shouldn’t be turning right on red.

I drive a little car and if the big pickup truck next to me pulls up too far I literally cannot see anything. So no, not endangering myself because the car behind me is in a hurry.

Where I live I can’t believe some of these intersections allow right on red. Visibility is poor, 3 lanes of heavy traffic are speeding down hill towards you. I’m gonna be sure before I turn right.

You can turn left on red from a one-way onto a one-way in PA and you can turn left on red in WA from a two-way onto a one-way.

You're *supposed* to be able to see if you're stopped at the line. Far too often is that not the case due to city design. Especially in downtown areas. I can't see through a brick building.

sometimes the car to my left pulls up so far that I can't see without moving up dangerously close to the road in order to see if I can turn on red. I still try but some people just suck 😂

You can’t always see everything. An SUV stopped well into the crosswalk in the left lane today, and I couldn’t see around it without getting all the way into the intersection.
