I agree vets do have one of the saddest jobs but I learned that most vet surgeries have over doubled in price the last few years . My dogs surgery just cost me over $7100 when it was only around $4k

People don't realize that a Vet is a small business they have to pay rent or mortgage, they have to pay for all the equipment, have to pay their staff, all the , medical supplies, and student loans.

My primary vet is a good guy but the after hours emergency clinic isn't. My girl had to suffer all night trying to pass a pup because it was going to be $1000 minimum to work on her. ☹

Don’t charge a consult fee. Let people just pay for your rent, staff, equipment, consumables etc

sometimes the price hike is ridiculous. I have a diabetic cat. the vet charged $15/glucose reading. glucose test strips cost $1.12/strip and 30 secs to test. A 1,200% markup is extraordinarily insane.

I’m a vet tech and will never have another dog without insurance again. I wish people understood how important it is, and that some hospitals accept direct pay from the insurance company too!

people think it's the individuals who work at the practice that make the prices up. they think the money goes in their pockets 😂 pets are a luxury not a necessity. can't afford one don't have one

my dog got the all clear yesterday for her yeast infection, my vet said "yous are good with her at least you're taking the time to get her seen at the vet" what are we meant to do let her suffer 🤦😂

Vet tech here. Already been told “if my dog dies, it’s the vets fault” - cuz they didn’t want to wait to been seen (walk in that didn’t call first and wasn’t even a client). It was an allergy flare up

The way the vet charges double the amount of money for 10ml of saline (x the medicine they gave) as we pay for a whole liter in my hospital does seem a lil cheeky though
