@nzherald: A powerful haka for an immigrant who overcame a language barrier to become dux of Hastings’ Flaxmere College has gone viral across the world. The haka was posted to TikTok on Saturday and has quickly gained global attention. Naomi Sai, 18, moved to New Zealand from the Philippines in August last year. Within less than a year, she gained school-wide recognition and was crowned dux. Sai told the Herald she was shocked when her peers stood up and she did not expect the video to gain the attention it did. “I felt so honoured, appreciative and grateful to all the people that performed to me, it was so special because I didn’t expect that at all,” she said. 📹 Naomi Sai #nz #nznews #haka

She's trying so hard not to cry and keep her head up to receive this. What an honor for a sweet kid.
