🤔 Before I start to paint certain pieces, I usually have to think about how I'm going to approach it. So there literally is a method to my madness. 🎨 From creating the blended background using an uncoventional technique, to selecting colours and finally painting it, the entire piece was such a meditative experience for me. Considering it depicts 5 dervishes against the backdrop of Rumi's Mausoleum, I think I got carried away in a trance-like state just like the Dervishes do when they whirl. 🇹🇷 My love for all things Turkish inspires me to paint such artworks as it highlights their rich culture as well as the invaluable contribution made by Rumi with his introspective poetry. It is called Sufi Whispers and is currently on exhibit at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town as part of the Rise and Resist Movement. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Gift of the Givers in aid of the ongoing human tragedy in Pale$t1ne. 🏰 If you are in the Cape, pop over to support this venture. You can purchase a piece or simply show your support by visiting the exhibition and ofcourse encouraging others to do the same. DM me if you're interested in acquiring this piece.
