TI PURI 🇲🇺 This is a classic Mauritian fried bread. It's small, round and fluffy, made with a handful of ingredients, deep fried and traditionally served with 'Sept Cari' - 7 different types of vegetable curries. It's very similar to doubles from Trinidad and Tobago. You can eat this with any curries you like, I had mine with curried butterbeans, spinach and rougallie corn mutton 🤤 Ingredients 2 cups of plain flour Warm water  3tbsp vegetable oil, more for frying and rolling 1tbsp baking powder 1tsp salt, more if needed  Turmeric for colour, optional Method  • Pour the flour into a large bowl, add baking powder, salt, pepper and turmeric and mix using a fork. • Add 3tbsp of vegetable oil and use your fingers to mix it in, it should slowly start to crumble. • Add in a little bit of warm water and use your fingers and palm to mix it in. Keep adding some warm water, a little at a time until you form a soft dough. Knead well! • Heat a large deep frying pan with some vegetable oil, on a medium/high heat. • Make a few small balls, this amount of dough should give you about 12-14. • Cover each dough with some oil and roll it out so it's thin and roundish. • Fry one by one in the hot oil, as it starts to float and puff up turn it over, it will take less than a minute each. Take out when nice and golden and drain excessive oil then place into a large bowl with a kitchen towel and drain more oil.
