Istanbul has so much to see! I’ve put everything in lists for you - from mosques to bazaars. Hopefully I remembered them all… Day 1: Explore Sultanahmet Blue mosque - 30 mins (currently undergoing refurbishments) Hagia Sophia - 40 mins (depending on the time of day, queue can be an hour) Egyptian bazaar - 40 mins (however long you want to spend shopping) Basilica Cistern (£10pp) - 30 mins (queue is an hour long) Day 2: Grand Bazaar - 45 mins (however long you want to spend shopping) Topkapi palace - 3 hrs (takes a few hours as the queues are long) Explore Karakoy - 2 hrs (rainbow umbrella street & rainbow stairs) Have dinner + desserts in Karakoy Day 3: Cruise on the Bosphorus Galata Tower at sunset - 1hr Try the famous cheesecake at Viyana Kahvesi after sunset (with a view of the tower & light show) Explore the streets around the tower - lots of art shops and restaurants. History/ tourism: Blue Mosque Suleymaniye Mosque Hagia Sophia Ortakoy Mosque Topkapi Palace museum Dolmabahçe Palace Beylerbeyi Palace The museum of the history of science and technology in Islam Istanbul archaeological museum Galata tower Rumeli fortress museum Museum of Turkish and Islamic arts Fevzi Pasa Street Tip: buy the Istanbul museum pass instead of purchasing individual tickets. Priced at 2250 TL and includes 13 museums (also covers Galata tower). With the pass, you also get audio guides. Restaurants: Beyzade (all the kunefe combos you could think of) Patatos (for their kumpir - baked potato) Kulelo Yakamoz (breakfast by the sea) Mimar Sinan Teras Cafe (rooftop breakfast/ dinner + the famous ‘photo corner’) Arada (breakfast) - multiple locations Zubeyir ocakbasi Kizilkayalar - wet hamburgers MUST TRY: Hafiz Mustafa (for the best desserts around) Viyana Kahvesi (for the famous San Sebastian cheesecake + best coffee I had in Istanbul) TomTom Kebap (the best kebab I tried - sooo juicy and soft) Not worth it: Czn Burak Safa (kunefe) Testi Garden Tip: ask locals for recommendations, they’ll know the best spots nearby that are more affordable. Generally, we weren’t so impressed by the social media famous spots, but the local ones instead. Shopping: Egyptian spice bazaar Grand bazaar Istiklal street Water garden mall Istanbul mall Zeruj port shopping mall Venezia mega outlet mall Areas to explore: Balat Sultanahmet Taksim Square Ortakoy Karakoy Activities: Take a boat down the Bosphorus Try out street food & snacks - simit, wet burger, kumpir etc. Visit museums + palaces (listed previously) Explore the colourful streets of Balat Turkish mosaic lamp workshop 📍Istanbul Workshops - Around £35 Hope this helps! Save for your next trip to Istanbul x #thingstodoistanbul #istanbulitinerary #visitistanbul #restaurantsistanbul
