When I worked at a shelter we had two cats who were alone with their owners bodies, both of them STARVED and didn’t eat them and one was so severely depressed after that he had to be put down.

my cat doesn’t have the courtesy of waiting for me to pass away, if he starts getting hungry he bites me until i feed him. i have awoken from many naps to him trying to prematurely eat me

I was fine with that knowledge because they need to eat, but then I heard that it's actually super distressing for them to eat their dead owners so now that fear is back with me.
