Kennedy Jr. will be his nominee for secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. “For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform. Kennedy, he said, will “Make America Great and Healthy Again!” Kennedy is the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy. He originally ran for president in the Democratic primary before running as an independent. In August, he suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump. The position will require a Senate confirmation. HHS oversees drug, vaccine, food safety, medical research and programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Kennedy has spread misinformation and falsehoods about vaccines and their safety, including the heavily debunked claim that they cause autism.
