Me trying to accept that "irony" and "literally" now also mean "sarcasm" and "figuratively" because if thats what people use them to mean, that then is their meaning. It hurts though...

My fave of these, “Gullivers Travels” should really be called “Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World. In Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, first a surgeon and then a captain of several ships”

Related: I’m seeing a trend now where people say, “It doesn’t matter, language evolves,” when they’re corrected for saying “should have”, for example. It evolves but not everything wrong is ok.

I’ll be honest, I always new the tower was just the bit in the middle, and never assumed people were referring to anything other than that when saying it. I didn’t realise people did that.

what annoys me is when a specific discipline takes an existing word and then redefines it. then people correct other people who use the word in the older, more general use, like "fruit" in botany.

I didn't realise when people talked about the Tower of London they were referring to everything and not just the tower, but you can't visit one without the other so understanding was never lost.

I've always known it as Westminster tower. I can't get used to it being Elizabeth tower. I didn't realise there is an office block called Westminster tower as well 🤷♂️

At least CinemaSins is meant as a parody of itself (the voice guy says he’s playing a character who just can’t let the smallest thing go in film. The Recotopia podcast shows they love movies).
