If I had to start my weight loss journey all over again, I’d NEVER do this again… Losing 115 lbs has taught me a thing or two (or five) about what not to do. If you’re just getting started, learn from my mistakes. 1. Obsessing over restrictions I spent too much time demonizing carbs, sugar, and joy. Turns out, food isn’t the enemy—my all-or-nothing mindset was. Food is fuel and sometimes it’s also very tasty.  2. Scheduling “cheat days” like it’s a national holiday Because let’s be honest, “cheat day” turned into “cheat weekend,” and by Monday, I was basically in witness protection from my own meal plan. 3. Prioritizing cardio over weights I ran my little heart out, but all I got was hungry, tired, and a bad attitude. Lifting heavy? Now that changed the game (and my metabolism).  It’s okay to ease in but strength training is the key! 4. Letting the scale dictate my self-worth I used to weigh myself daily like it was the stock market. One pound up? Devastated. One pound down? Cocky. Turns out, progress isn’t just a number. Now I take multiple measures - measurements, using the @myzozofit  app, and taking photos along the way.  5. Thinking willpower was the answer Nah. Systems win over willpower every time. I had to stop relying on “motivation” and start building habits that didn’t disappear the second I got stressed. It also turns out that a GLP1 medication helped to make it possible by helping me get rid of the food noise that plagued me most of my life, so that’s pretty cool.
