Kaminari Gyoza Bar was created when the founder, a local of Utsunomiya, Japan which is known as the gyoza capital of the world, noticed dumplings abroad weren’t quite up to par. Hidden on the busy streets of Little Tokyo, they offer four fillings (pork, chicken, shrimp, and vegan) in three styles of dumpling: Yaki (pan fried), Age (deep fried), and Sui (boiled and served in pork broth). Besides the dumplings, the other star is their sauces. They have the classics for free at each table, or you can add on some more unique choices for $1 each. They also offer a set meal (or Teishoku) that comes with sides like soup, egg rolls, and even pasta in a sweet tomato sauce; or you can order sides a la carte.
