Houston is our most senior 777 base and NRT is the most senior trip in Houston, so technically that makes IAH-NRT the most senior trip to hold. The reason it’s so senior is because it’s a high value trip- clocking in at 27 hours for 3 days of work. It’s also easy on the body, especially if you’re the flying pilots (which I wasn’t in this case). The reason I can pick this up is because sometimes FOs call out sick and there’s a need to cover for them. Obviously I jumped on an opportunity to fly to Japan! Narita is a very easy airport to operate into; the arrivals are simple, the approaches are straightforward, and the taxiways are intuitive. I hope this video gives a glimpse of what it’s like to be a senior FO on the 777 based in IAH. I, for one, am not senior but sometimes I get lucky and pick up a senior trip.
