It’s sad that kids aren’t safe walking a mile. I walked and explored all over my town alone at that age.

He is old enough to walk to places in town. My boys walk all over the place where we live, the park, the pool, school, friend’s houses, the gym, the youth church, work, all over. There’s even a transportation sheet in the school registration packet that asks if your child will be a car rider, bus rider or walker. My boys were walking to school in the 2nd grade (it’s a little more than a mile). Is there some city ordinance that states that young people can’t walk places & if so that’s really bizarre. The only city ordinance we have is that minors can’t be walking around or loitering from 10pm-6am. My son walked home from work at 14 well after 10pm and it was fine because he was walking home from work. 🤷🏼♀️

a 10 year old walking alone for a mile, and the mother is in jail? That is too harsh. Gen X here,,,our entire generation was locked out of the house, and went anywhere we wanted. No check ins...just head home when street lights came home. Not saying it was right, but wow. Literally the vast majority of Gen X parents would be in prison if it was today. Honestly? They deserved to be in prison
