@whitehavenhall: Well after weeks and weeks of stripping , sanding , the paint is finally off the first run of the staircase hall . #palaces #mansion #statelyhome #interiordesign #painting #regency #antique #restoration #stripping And I was very surprised to find that the entire staircase is made of walnut. Which has a lovely deep red glow in person. The house , built in 1710 , had the staircase replaced in 1740 , to allow the servants access to all 4 floor without going through the formal rooms ( there were small spirals in the panelling for them prior to this ) It is one of those things that I kind of wish I had never started . And many time I considered just painting it white again. Also the grey runner that worked with the white I no longer feel works. So I may change the runners to a deep burgundy ?? The stripping will stop now, as I have to put the Christmas decorations up. But the other sections will be attacked in January
