Yesterday I uploaded a video and I could tell quickly it WASN'T going to go viral. I thought it was a hot one, so I immediately opened up CapCut and made a second version of it, and it took off. I cut out a ton of content and made it 20 seconds instead of one minute. And here’s the big lesson: The stuff I cut was parts I THOUGHT were important. They were absolutely not important! If your reels are not going viral, most likely it’s because they are too wordy, have too much content, and are ruining the flow someone has while they’re swiping. Think of it this way: When you’re swiping on Instagram, you are usually in a flow. The algorithm is finding content you want to quickly learn. Skills, motivation, funny stuff, etc. You fall into a pattern of consumption. Most of the content you’re watching and finishing is short, to the point, and gets that endorphin rush you so desperately crave in seconds. If you hit a video that breaks that pattern, then you leave Instagram. You probably go open up TikTok or something else. This is called a pattern interrupt. You never want your video to be the pattern interrupt that gets someone to leave the platform. So the truth is your reels probably have much more filler than you know! So do these three things every time: 1. Make sure you open with a strong hook that gets attention. You have two seconds to do it. 2. Cut 5X more than you think you need to cut from your reel. 3. Make sure it seamlessly loops so people are curious to watch it twice. Instagram rewards reels that are watched multiple times on average. Comment below if this was helpful, and give me a follow for more tips!
