it's not a worm. herring worms are cream colored. when sushi fish is caught it's frozen before shipping. I have 13 years of fish processing experience. it's a muscle spasm.

it has to be so irregular because I eat sushi on a daily basis and I’ve never seen anything like that. FOB sushi said they came from the chop chopsticks and the pressure that the chopsticks had on the fish but I highly doubt that.
