@mindfulconversationspod: Addiction is already a battle we fight with ourselves every day. Don’t be the person who adds more weight with threats or guilt. Instead, lead with love, understanding, and support. We hate it too, but change takes time. 💔 #AddictionAwareness #SupportNotShame #fyp #fypシ #mentalhealthmatters #addictionawareness #addictionisreal #selfjourney #leadwithlove

I hear you and there is nothing wrong with setting healthy boundaries to protect your own mental health and wellbeing when you are with an addicted partner

Yes. But at some point, loved ones gotta set boundaries. Part of what helped me choose to get clean was my family saying, “we’re done. We’re leaving. I’m taking your child.” And I couldn’t argue.

Multiple people have f***ed me because of addiction. I don't agree with you at all. Normalize cutting addicts that continue to wrong you out of your life. ✌️

From someone who has been on all sides of this, I couldn’t disagree more with most of this message. Yes they shouldn’t badger you, but they should absolutely make healthy boundaries for themselves.

Here’s the thing ‘their addiction’ also becomes ours and when we don’t at some point out ourselves 1st they’ll always put you last. I agree with being no -judgemental & support without enabling

There gets to a point sometimes you have to tell them you'll leave, not a threat just saying you won't deal will the disrespect anymore after trying, trying trying trying to help them when they end up

Partners need to set boundaries for themselves to protect their own mental and emotional health….its not easy for the partner/family of the one with the addiction either it affects everyone around

I hear you but not wanting to sit there and watch it happen and to walk away is sometimes better as you can help someone that doesn’t want to be helped

All I ever needed was for someone to understand. Not judge me or lecture me about it but just understand. Why I isolate myself from others

Al Anon member here. My husband is a recovering alcoholic. Maybe not badger, but setting boundaries-YES. It is 100% acceptable to tell them you will leave if you really mean it.

if a person is willing to lose that relationship with you they are allowed to, they are allowed to walk away, they are allowed to protect their own peace because even though we may be suffering we are

Everyone walks away from a person fighting addiction. Be the person that doesn’t walk away. Don’t ever mention it either to them just make sure that they’re OK.
