I know quite a few people that have hiked the Appalachian Trail and have had ZERO issues or weird experiences. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. And slept in a tent alone out on the trail. I personally think it’s old wives tales and urban legends type of stuff. Sound echoes in the woods and gets distorted from trees.
