@adhd.advocate: In this video, we discuss why the regular rules and consequences don't seem to work with ADHD children. We explain that ADHD brains are wired to chase dopamine, the brain's feel-good chemical, and that they respond better to short-term rewards, interest, and urgency rather than consequences. We provide strategies for parents and teachers to help ADHD children, such as making tasks into games or challenges, using timers, and focusing on short-term rewards. #ADHD #ADHDparenting #ADHDstrategies #ADHDteaching #

I only graduated high school because my English and government teacher allowed me to make up all of my missed work over one week at the end of the year and I did and I got a decent grade

Does a child who behaves amazingly at school but then once they’re in that car after school ends they act just like what you explain someone with adhd is, a symptom of ADHD?

Who’s going to tell the education system that they are messing up our kiddos? This is the professional development that teachers need! Thank you!

I agree. Why is it that now that as an ADHD adult I'm afraid to not follow rules. It's like my brain won't let me break a rule/law

So my 5yo loves challenges and games like that. Does that make him ADHD? Genuine question is he just a 5yo boy and it’s fun?

Will the ADHD child eventually mature to be ready for those situations that aren’t dopamine related?

In my experiences, many children with ADHD become extremely stressed by “timed tasks”, which causes anxiety and escalations.
