Part of her argument is correct. Todays generation are spending well above there means to compete against each other

I’m 43, single, rent, earn 48k, literally never go out, I save, have a dog and there’s no way I can get a mortgage for a two bed house with a garden on my own

I do kind of agree with her because now that like Airbnb has become a thing people are buying more homes and they need just to rent them out and now when somebody wants to generally buy home for their

It’s like it’s they believe they have a monopoly on hardship. pensioners/boomers now are the only generation thus far that DON’T want the next generations to succeed. I don’t want my son to struggle.

The younger generation will inherit houses worth hundreds of thousands, I inherited 1/4 share of £40k house ! We earns £10k between us, 1st house a wreck and £20k & we had to do so much diy !

I worked hard for my first place. But I earned £13k and paid £50k for my flat! It was all totally doable. Young people now could save for years and not have enough, so let them have their coffees! 🙄

My sister bought her first house for 27k and sold it only a 4 years later for 85k. That’s how quickly a starter home became untenable for a single person on a min wage.

there was a lot of this when the fuel allowance was scrapped - it's ok to scrap benefits for young people with families, but when it comes to pensioners who have tens thousands in the bank, it's cruel

I live in Aus and the minimum house price in Perth atm is ~500k. I make about 100k with overnights and weekends and I'm barely able to get approved for that much. Its ridiculous.

Their argument of holidays and coffee is ridiculous. Getting on the housing ladder is near impossible so yeah we want to spend our money on things we will enjoy. Things we can afford. I earn 25k a 1/2
