This is a very complex issue that affects not just farmers but the rural economy as a whole. Vets, Fabricators, engineers machinery dealerships and many more will also be affected by labour agricultural bill all reducing profitability on an already declining sectors. The people who will suffer from this bill is not the extremely wealthy but instead the small family farms that feed the nation. We all saw in Covid the importance of food security and highlighting the fact we should not be reliant on imports from aboard if food supply shortages arise. As farmers we've had increasing challenges with the weather. This accompanied with increasing costs and increasing regulations by the government and milk processors to meet higher environmental and welfare standards has heavily reduced profitability.
