Applied for a civilian job that was the exact same job I did for 12 years in the Army, was told I didn't have enough experience. They hired a guy who held a similar job one summer in Highschool

tried to get a job with local police, told me my military time didn't matter they only accepted people with 4 year degrees now matter what the degree was in.

We veterans make sure we try to take care of other the veterans. I work in Film as a department head, and I specifically look for prior service members trying to get into Film.

I used to run into this when I was in my 20s after getting out. I stop putting veteran status and i started getting hired. Companies claim they're vet friendly, but they're not.

I got out in July, applied for 60+ jobs of which I was more than qualified for and only got two interviews. Decided to go contractor instead and got hired for the first CTR position I put in for 1/

Went in to interview for a Supervisor Position at my old job. They told me I had no leadership experience or college degree, I’m a retired E8 with 2 bachelor degrees. I quit 2 weeks later.

I’m not military, but that’s kinda how things went for me for the longest time. 10 years of kitchen experience but I’m either overqualified and they’d have to pay more or they were only pretending to look for people to meet a quota for loans. Luckily I found work in the school system, which is lucky since I’m also going back to school to get a degree in education

my recruiter did everything to make sure my job translates into the civilian world plus I also get clearance which makes me desirable for gov’t jobs, I just signed the contract with the MOS guaranteed

This is just the job market in general. It’s hit or miss and depends on if you have connections or not. People with 20 years of experience don’t get hired over the young kid who’s going to accept less

I swear every time I mark that I’m a veteran and any job obligation I never get an answer back, but I believe that part out I get a answer back. It makes no sense to me.
