Makes me sad to think what could have happened to make someone so fearful.❤️

I suggest that you look into hypnosis to 1. Identify the source of your fear and 2. To help lessen the intensity of your discomfort.

I've never heard of this fear before. maybe there was a fire (smell of smoke), or someone around that wasn't nice who smoked, when they were little?

I have lived with the same fear as well. Therapy has made it better but still not okay. I get this and you’re not alone.

I have a similar phobia. I've had it for as long as I can remember. I'm 38 and just starting to open up about it (it's been 2-3 weeks). My therapist says an irrational fear of something that cannot actively try to hurt you is actually displaced trauma. Something that happened to me as a child made me focus on the * thing * and I developed a phobia of it. My grandmother might have given me a clue recently. She mentioned something that happened to my grandparents and I when I was a child. I do remember, but it was way in the back of my mind. That one time someone actually threatened, gun in hand, to kill us. My Military Veteran grandpa stepped in immediately. He made sure my grandmother and I were safe in a matter of seconds, then turned around and walked towards gun man. I was terrified he would get killed. The place we were in was full of * thing *. I can remember * it * vividly. My grandma may well be on to something.

This made me think of OCD. I think it would be worth for Holder to discuss these thoughts in a therapeutic setting. It’s hard but it doesn’t have to be. Much love to you

As a kid I was afraid of fish hooks because of the little barb. gave me nightmares when we went camping and they were in the car. my fear was not as intense as yours and it got better as I grew older

oh that is a hard burden to bear, secret keeper. I don't fear the item like you do, but hate it. The smell alone is driving me nuts and it is so so prevalent where I live, you can't escape it

This may be weird to say but if it’s not something that happened in this life it could have been something in a past life that you have carried over.

Response to 454 - I have a similar fear. I can’t touch the item or look at it. I threw up a lot as a kid because of my fear. Not so much now…
