I live up north. Currently we pay £450 on our mortgage, however if we move to a slightly bigger house it shoots up to £1200. I can't even imagine what people are paying down south 😭

On £93K They must take home around £6,000 a month after tax and National insurance. He shows they have £4,000 in outgoings.. so that should leave them with £2000 leftover 🧐 the math ain’t mathin

I have a slightly higher income and it’s getting tight. Single income so pay more tax, but it was extremely comfortable with ability to save a lot until the last 18 months. Everything has doubled.

We had to get shared ownership and pay £1400 a month, childcare is expensive if you don’t get universal credit, this is a normal working persons expenses

I bring home around £2000 net. I pay £560 mortgage, £120 council tax, £200 food/household, £270 car/fuel, about £300 utilities/internet/phone/TV). Wouldn’t dream of having kids - where’s the money?

OK if we say they also have student loan and they bring home 5k a month then they still have a couple.of hundred left for saving or frivolity.

I posted on the other thread but I’d try to negotiate those costs and ask for flexible working to bring this down as there is little point working with those childcare costs

My worst fear is to be tied into a HUGE mortgage and barely living

For those saying their house is an overspend. I have a 2 bed semi in the south and our mortgage is over £1,500 a month. Why are people unaware of property prices 😂

everything nearly doubled in a couple of years, food, bills, utilities, petrol etc on top of people’s mortgages its literally working to exist now for most people. Shareholders reaping the benefits!

Yup totally get this! Our mortgage is slightly lower but the rest of our costs are similar and we only live in a house that’s in line with the national average house price
