little known fact: i was undergoing severe depression, an ED, addiction, poverty, homelessness, & a recent failed attempt on my life a couple of months ago. i didnt leave the house for months, didnt even see SUNLIGHT. i was desolate inside & cripplingly depressed. when i made the decision to come back to social media, my first early posts were met with words like “twig” “why are u so skinny” & “eat something” as if i was not already struggling with my physique & the entirety of my being as a whole. i was being told to “eat and get bigger” when i didnt even see the value in LIVING any longer. i was struggling just to survive. i had taken months off of the gym & could barely get out of bed everyday due to my lack of food & even water intake. i was less than human. i started posting on socials again only to see the exact same comments i used to be bullied with in middle school / highschool. the exact comments that helped drive me to start my fitness journey in the first place. i cried. i cried A LOT trying to come to terms with the fact that i did not like what i saw when i looked in the mirror anymore… all i saw staring back at me was a younger version of me, too afraid to stand up for herself all of those years. a version of me that i thought i had grown far away from. my friends who had not seen me since last year had scary concern in their eyes upon seeing me a couple of months ago. (shoutout ethan who tried to feed me chips at the gym itself) so for months, i decided to pause posting my current physique. i somewhat pulled a “nikocado avocado” & i instead only posted old pictures/pictures i had taken in my prime. i started to eat again/gym again in silence. i was trying to grind out until i reached a point where i could post normally again without staring longingly at pictures of me from the past. it was a STRUGGLE going to the gym & seeing my quads GONE. that was the part that hit me the hardest. the part of my body i had put blood, sweat, & tears into building… i was disgusted looking in the mirror. at first, that restrained me from the gym. i would go lift & see my reflection & legitimately become DISGUSTED. i wanted to avoid it at no matter what cost. so to counteract this, i started wearing long pants EVERYDAY. no more gym shorts, jean shorts, anything that revealed the legs i had grown to despise. it was sweatpants, cargos, or full jeans everyday— even in the hot summer. everytime i went to gym, i wore sweatpants and never took them off. i had not been so frail since i was age 14. i was only hitting upper body, self-sabotage because part of me could not even bear to workout my legs since i was so weak. but i forced myself to stop trying to ego-lift & lock in for the bigger picture. i no longer wanted to hate myself. — & now here we are. & my oh quad, i couldnt be happier seeing the progress. not yet back to my prime, but i know this time— i’m going to be better than i ever was. better than any of y’all have ever seen me before. we are so f*cking back. LETS F*CKING GROWW
