As much as I've enjoyed it, I can't stop thinking it isn't as good as people make it seem to be. Yes, it's good, thrilling, full of action, and are interesting characters. But I can't pass arround the fact the story-line seemed so simple to me. Don't get me wrong, there were surprises, a lot in fact, but I would say "the plot" was vey basic. And it hurts me becasue I've been hearing such great things about John Gwynne's The Faithful and the Fallen series. I'll read it nevertheless, but I will be biased by this. I think what happened is that I don't realy enjoy as much "vengance" stories when they are the main center of the plot. Another point for me to criticize has to be the little to non depth I felt from the Gods. Yes they were menacing, but for me it was just in the sense of "fear me, I'm an allmighty God and you and this land are mine". But to end in a good note I want to say that this kept me on edge all the time, wondering how will the cast come out of this situation. And especially for Orka I found my self deeply whishing for her the good end that she deserved from the begining. Taking away a little from before, I also enjoyed a lot Ulfrir, eventhough he felt a little to human for my taste to the end. And, oh gosh thoese action/fight scenes, I really felt like I was part of the Shieldwall.
