There’s no way I could work there. I mean I do commercial refrigeration and hvac. But that seems to much like IT work and not hvac work.

I agree with the part of proprietary software and cables, that is BS. If they don't have to look at the controls, it is doing its job. Set it and forget it until it is needed.

if manufacturers shared controls universally we'd only need one cable. it's only because it's proprietary that it feels under engineered and hard to manipulate. no competition in user interface
