this trick would work on much older laptops like pre-haswell era thinkpads, not newer ones.

it works fine unless the dell has the 8FC endong number with is the updated BIOS 8th gen intel processor was the change over

in other case password is saved on eeprom. for some laptops shorting chip data pins while accessing bios works but not always as chip may have other needed information by bios.
