How have you got your baby to sleep through the night?! The most common question I’ve had in my DMs lately! I know every baby is different and i do think there’s a lot of luck of the drawer, however we have not had the easiest baby 🤣 she was grumpy ALL THE TIME until 3-4 months. I’m definitely a routine mum which i didn’t think id be but I just know how much happier she is when we follow a routine! When we don’t or she misses a nap she is a rascal🥺 anyway these are the things that I think contribute to her sleeping through the night 😄 💤the same night time routine to trigger the long sleep is coming, we did this from really early on! Bath, bottle, bed 💤at least 2.5-3 hour wake window pre bedtime 💤the same morning routine to trigger the day has begun. Exposure to day light first thing to help her circadian rhythm ☀️ 💤knowing the difference between her actually crying and needing something in the night and her just being awake having a little fuss - I only ever pick her up if she’s actually upset, even then I’ll still wait a few minutes as she might just be having a little dream! She’s amazing at self settling! 💤Dropped the formula feeds in the night. We got into the habit of everytime she woke we’d alternate between me breastfeeding & Geoff giving her a bottle. Just like our hunger hormones if she’s used to having a big bottle in the middle of the night she’ll keep waking wanting one! Now I put her on my boob if she’s upset and she’ll chill out and go back to sleep. 💤Putting her to bed awake. As long as she’s calm and not hungry/needing to burp she’ll kick around a bit and then be asleep, it took a lot of persistence with this and sometimes we’d have to pick her up, soothe her and try again a few times! (We always sing her to sleep with the same song every night, so she should recognise that sound as the pre-sleep sound😄) 💤making sure she’s eating / drinking enough in the day (she’s currently having 2 breast feeds, 1 formula bottle feed and 2 meals in the day, then a bigger bottle pre bed) I know this isn’t ground breaking but might give you some new things to try 🤷🏻‍♀️ either way remember everyone will sleep through the night eventually!❤️
