@thorsonheating: Thinking about cleaning your flame sensor? Sioux Falls, avoid steel wool and sandpaper—they’ll wear it out faster! Use a Scotch pad and polish it gently for the best results. #SiouxFalls #siouxfallssd #southdakota #hvacmaintenance #homeservice

I bought a spare flame sensor for my furnace. Stuff always fails at the worst times. For $10 to $20 it is super cheap insurance.

Flame rods also get a coating from where the combustion air is pulled from. Sealed comb, great. A room full of chemicals, cleaning supplies, etc..not good.

Why only long ways? I do kitchen equipment and have to deal with flame sensors often. Never heard of having to rub it a certain way.

Initially it was my flame sensor and everything worked well but now my first burner tube doesn’t kick on after the igniter gets hot. Does the igniter get dirty and need cleaned as well?
