I did that for my golden retriever once. All the snow started the clump between his pads and he couldn’t play outside. Don’t cut all the fur away because it keeps the snow out.

DO NOT CUT THEY’RE HAIR DOWN PAST THE PAW PADS LIKE IN THE VIDEO WITH GOLDEN RETRIEVERS. They will get a condition called pododermatitis. It’s painful for them.

Only trim to the level of the pads. Don't trim the hair away below the pads.

Actually it can cause Matting as well. But there’s a tendon in the center of the paw that can be easily nicked so make sure to only go in the paw pad at an angle never straight on.
