My parents stayed together “for the kids” so, on top of parents that were volatile, violent and hated each other, we got the guilt of knowing they did it “for us”.

I vividly remember being 7 and praying to God, pleading for my parents divorce. I'm 30 now and can definitely tell you that's way more damaging to a child than growing up with divorce parents!
