On the night of December 13, Newell Mock, 67, armed himself with a handgun after an escalating argument with his wife, Rhonda Mock, 65. As Rhonda fled their home, Mock took her car and phone and drove to the home of her daughter, Jessica Johns, and her husband, Josh Johns, in the Sweet Bay neighborhood. According to police, Mock forcibly entered the house and shot the couple, both 40, multiple times while their children, aged seven and five, were asleep but unharmed. Officers found Josh dead and Jessica critically injured.
